When St James was founded 50 years ago it was started with the support and generosity of teachers, parents and friends, helping the Schools grow and flourish. 50 years on that philanthropic spirit remains, as does the wish for the schools to be open to any child who would benefit from a St James education.
St James has a long history of providing bursaries which both enrich the school community and give children access to a high quality education, in recent years approximately 10% of pupils have received some form of bursary assistance.
As we celebrate St James 50th birthday and looking towards the future of the schools, we want to put bursaries at the heart of our fundraising. By focusing on bursaries, we hope that children who would flourish at St James have the opportunity to do so.
We are hugely grateful for the support for the Bursary Fund we receive from the St James community. If you would like to add your support, you can make a donation below.

“The impact of bursaries are huge, beyond their financial support, they give children a chance to overcome what is often beyond their control with dignity and to resume education with emotional stability and a greater sense of maturity”
Parent of a current bursary holder
“Receiving the bursary has been life-changing for our family. It’s given our daughter opportunities she never would have been able to have without it. It’s been a great privilege to receive and is something our family will never forget.”
Parent of a current bursary holder (Year 7)
“It is difficult to put into words the profound impact that my daughter’s bursary has had on our lives. Without financial assistance, it would be impossible for my daughter to attend this wonderful school … At St James, my daughter has absolutely flourished throughout year 7 and in addition to her classes has taken part in many clubs, productions and sports…The bursary award given to my daughter has positively changed the trajectory of her whole life and it is such a privilege to see her flourishing in such a vibrant and welcoming school. We are so very grateful to everybody who has helped this to be possible and the bursary award that enables her to attend this wonderful school means so very much to both of us”.
